In a recent conversation, when a student asked me for the “list of sociolinguisically-oriented research organizations that have regular events open to the public” I was reminded of the need for frequent reframing of the job search process as a research process
I capture this in the sentiment: “knowledge about careers is distributed.”
By which I mean that, like academic research, it is the process of conductig the research itself that enables you to narrow down your scope, that in doing the research itself, you find the best sources.
