Career Skills Instructor, English for Heritage Language Speakers (EHLS) program http://www.ehlsprogram.org/ Full-time Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenured), September 2016—August 2017. Annually renewable, dependent upon successful performance and funding renewal.
Responsibilities:
September—December, 9:00-5:00
- Orientation to program and curriculum
- Updating curriculum for 2017 cycle
- GU EHLS Federal Agency point of contact (POC) activities:
o Arranging guest speakers for Intro to Fed Govt course and workshops
o Disseminating the OSAP topic solicitation
January—August, 9:00-5:00
- Teach Career Skills + 30-minute career counseling one-on-one tutorial, Jan-June
- Teach Intro to Fed Govt, Jan–June
- Teach Online Career Skills, July—August
- GU EHLS Federal Agency point of contact (POC) activities:
o Arranging guest speakers for Intro to Fed Govt course and workshops
o Manage invitation/reservations for OSAP symposium and EHLS graduation
o Liaise with NSEP Service Team
- EHLS Admissions selection panel work
- Office hours
- Faculty meetings
Required qualifications: MA and TESOL Certificate or MA in related field and Advanced English classroom teaching; experience teaching interview skills, and writing professional documents; experience conducting one-on-one tutorials.
Preferred qualifications: MA in TESOL or Applied Linguistics; ESP Advanced English classroom teaching; teaching career development skills; professional editing experience; using Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) or ACTFL scale; federal government experience.
