THE STORY APPROACH TO A CAREER: LIFE AFTER A LIBERAL ARTS DEGREE

Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 5:00pm-7:00pm, Roberts Reception Hall, Performing Arts Center. South Dakota State University
Open house at 4:30, networking until 8:00.
How do I choose a career when my major prepares me for all of them? “Career Linguist” Dr. Anna Marie Trester has the answer! She will guide students through the career process using the story approach: how to use your research, critical thinking, and communication skills to identify organizations of interest, how to navigate social media, networking, and interviews, and how to best tell your own story to get that dream job. Free and open to all students! This workshop will benefit anyone with an uncertain career plan.

Plus: Open house with refreshments! Networking with job recruiters! Résumé and social media headshots!

Dr. Trester has worked as an applied sociolinguist at the FrameWorks Institute, a nonprofit think-tank, and as a faculty member at Georgetown University. Check out her blog at careerlinguist.com
