Additional Information
Will coordinate the day-to-day activities of a developmental research lab. Under direction, this Research Associate will implement and supervise activities related to research projects requiring participation of young children and their families, as well as community organizations.
Purchase lab materials and supplies. Confer with budget officials as needed to place and receive orders. Manage cash advances required for compensating research participants. Facilitate data collection. This task will involve both phone and in person interaction with families with infants and young children. In addition to collecting data in the laboratory, this task might occasionally require travel to offsite preschools and community centers. Supervise and direct student assistants in participant recruitment, scheduling, data collection, and data coding activities. Facilitate data processing. This task will involve viewing recorded experimental sessions and coding child participant responses. Preparation of spreadsheets and charts summarizing coded data will also be required.
Oversee Institutional Review Board compliance. Manage IRB submissions and revisions. Developing lab materials, constructing stimuli, and managing lab EndNote database. Other related functions as assigned.
Licenses: Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver’s License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Education, or related field.
Two or more years of experience working with young children, families and/or community groups. Experience managing projects and running subjects in a developmental research laboratory. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an ability to gather, maintain, and summarize qualitative and quantitative information. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, EndNote, Asana, RedCap, and behavioral coding software. Familiarity with the greater Austin community.
