About the Project Manager Position

Catchword is looking for a full-time, experienced, and highly motivated Project Manager to join the team in Oakland. In this role, you will manage naming projects, requiring effectiveness and comfort with clients, expertise in naming and branding, and strong presentation and organizational skills. You will also provide second-chair support on larger naming projects and strategy and architecture work—requiring participation in meetings, writing naming briefs, preparing Keynote presentations, and more. Above all, you will jump into the many different things that arise in a leading creative-services agency in a vibrant, fast-paced industry.


Job Responsibilities

  • Managing naming projects of all types
  • Leading client meetings and presentations
  • Coordinating projects internally–e.g., working with the creative team on name lists for client presentations, establishing project timelines, keeping clients and internal team abreast of progress to ensure a smooth process
  • Fielding new business inquiries, responding to RFPs, developing proposals
  • Writing naming briefs and working with clients to finalize
  • Assisting with naming strategies, architectures, and protocols
  • Preparing and presenting using Keynote, in person and via video
  • Conducting preliminary trademark, Google, and domain screens
  • Possibly assisting with creative name development
  • Possibly participating in social media outreach (blogging and tweeting) and contributing to website updates and content generation
  • Keeping up with industry trends in naming, branding, domains, and TM
  • Jumping in and contributing to the many things—not all part of the job description—that arise at a small but vibrant creative agency

Required Qualifications

  • B.A. degree
  • 4+ years of agency experience (naming or branding), including managing projects
  • High degree of comfort interacting with clients and presenting creative work
  • High degree of comfort working in a small office
  • Excellent communication and verbal skills
  • Creative naming experience is a big plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, G Suite, Keynote. Experience with Photoshop and/or Illustrator a plus
  • Willingness to learn trademark basics; ability to use USPTO database a plus
  • Knowledge of foreign languages or linguistics a plus
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and collaboratively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and occasionally complete projects under extreme time constraints
  • Limited travel may be required
