The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) is seeking a research intern for the Assessment and Evaluation Language Resource Center (AELRC), funded by a grant through the Department of Education. The AELRC is a collaboration between Georgetown University and CAL. The research intern will work remotely and will learn about language testing, materials design, teacher professional development, and other areas of applied linguistics through this position.
Current staff projects include conducting research on assessment for post-secondary world language learners, updating the Foreign Language Assessment Directory and companion tutorial, organizing and supporting a testing conference and an evaluation workshop, and conducting an online course on the basics of assessment.
Tasks may include conducting research and literature reviews; data cleaning, coding, and analysis; contributing to the development of workshops, courses, and resources for language educators; writing and editing reports; planning for and executing a conference; and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements: Graduate student in linguistics or related field at Georgetown University. Strong written and oral communication skills and organization are required. Must be detail-oriented and self-starting.
This internship position is funded for up to 12 hours per week at $18/hour from October 2021 through December 2021. There may also be an opportunity to extend the internship beyond the fall semester pending project needs and funding.
